# OSHA 30 card

The longer safety course for people who lead crews.

Supervisor-level safety training

The OSHA 30 covers the same hazards as the OSHA 10 in more depth, plus how to manage safety for a crew. It is aimed at foremen, supervisors and anyone with safety responsibility, but plenty of workers take it to move up.

In short

The OSHA 30 is a 30-hour Outreach Training Program course for supervisors and workers with safety responsibilities. It comes in construction and general industry versions and is taught by OSHA-authorized trainers or authorized online providers. Graduates get a Department of Labor completion card. Like the OSHA 10, OSHA treats it as voluntary, but many employers and projects require it for foremen and site leads.

**Sources checked October 11, 2026** Pay, training and outlook come from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Pay is the middle (median) figure nationally; your first paycheck in the trade will usually be lower.

## What is added beyond the OSHA 10

- More hours on fall protection, electrical, struck-by and caught-between hazards
- Managing a safety program and running toolbox talks
- Excavation, cranes and rigging, scaffolds and confined spaces in more depth
- Recordkeeping and how inspections work
- Health hazards such as silica, lead and noise

## How long it takes

Because OSHA limits outreach training to 7.5 hours a day, the course takes at least four days. Online courses let you spread it out, but the provider sets a deadline to finish.

## Straight answers

### Who needs OSHA 30?

Usually foremen, supervisors and safety staff. Some projects require it for anyone in a lead role.

### Should a beginner take OSHA 30 instead of OSHA 10?

You can, but most beginners start with the OSHA 10. The OSHA 30 is longer and costs more.

### Does the OSHA 30 replace the OSHA 10?

It covers the OSHA 10 topics, so most employers accept it in place of the 10.
