# OSHA 10 vs OSHA 30

Same program, different depth and audience.

Side by side

Both cards come from the same OSHA Outreach Training Program and both come in construction and general industry versions. The difference is depth and who they are built for.

In short

The OSHA 10 is a 10-hour course for entry-level workers that covers the major job site hazards and worker rights. The OSHA 30 is a 30-hour course for supervisors and workers with safety duties that covers those topics in more depth plus managing safety for a crew. If you are new, take the OSHA 10. Take the OSHA 30 when you are moving toward a lead or foreman role.

**Sources checked October 11, 2026** Pay, training and outlook come from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Pay is the middle (median) figure nationally; your first paycheck in the trade will usually be lower.

## Straight answers

### Is OSHA 30 harder than OSHA 10?

It is longer and goes deeper, but it is written for working tradespeople, not engineers.

### Can I skip OSHA 10 and go straight to OSHA 30?

Yes. There is no requirement to take the 10 first.

### Which is better for getting hired?

For entry-level jobs, the OSHA 10 is usually enough. The 30 helps when you apply for lead roles.
